Dr Abi Dymond

Dr Abi Dymond is a Lecturer in Criminology and ESRC Future Research Leader at the University of Exeter. Her current research interests and impact work focus on issues around police, policing and places of detention. She has a particular interest in the use of Taser, less lethal weapons and restraints in these environments and was delighted to win the ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize (Outstanding Early Career Impact) in 2018 for her work in this area. Prior to her appointment as Lecturer, Abi gained over a decade's experience working in research and policy for a number of international development and human rights NGOs, including the UK NGO the Omega Research Foundation where she specialised in the use of force and torture prevention work.
