Dr Carrie Heitmeyer

Dr Carrie Heitmeyer has significant experience in leading academic social science research projects as well as in policy and research roles within the Civil Service, giving her critical perspective on the challenges in commissioning and applying behavioural and social science evidence in policy settings.

Within government, she has worked in priority policy areas including energy and climate change, maternal and neonatal health and COVID-19.

Since joining the Government Office for Science in 2020, she works closely with independent academic experts to coordinate behavioural and social science evidence use on COVID-19 for the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). She has an MSc and PhD in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics.
