Professor Deborah Wilson

Deborah Wilson is Professor of Public Policy and Management and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at the University of Bristol. Her research investigates the consequences – intended and unintended – of alternative means by which public service organisations are held to account, with a particular focus on the education sector.

Deborah was Research Director for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at Bristol from 2017-2021, Director of Policy Bristol from 2013-2016 and Deputy Director of the ESRC-funded Centre for Market and Public Organisation (CMPO) from 2011-2014. Prior to joining CMPO she held lectureships at the Universities of Bath and Bristol. Deborah was Deputy Director of the ESRC Public Services Programme, University of Oxford, from 2007 until its conclusion in 2010.
