Professor Teela Sanders

Teela Sanders is a Professor of Criminology at the University of Leicester. She is a leading international scholar in research on the intersections between gender, regulation, governance and crime, specifically in the sex industry. Sanders has written 9 books, edited 8, and has over 50 peer reviewed journal articles, based on research projects funded from major research councils. She is CO-I on a current ESRC project on sexual violence in sex working populations across four countries more of which can be found here. Her work cements collaborations between practitioners, sex work communities and police and has been focusing on work in Nairobi over the last two years. She is currently PI on the University of Leicester ESRC Impact Acceleration Account. She has received a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for 2019-2022.
