UKRI will commit up to £8 million to support a single Core Energy Revolution Research Consortium (ERRC Core) and up to £4 million of extra funding, for further key research (ERRC Plus) related to the Core activity.

The Energy Revolution Research Consortium (ERRC) will be intrinsically connected to all elements of the Government's Industrial Strategy Prospering from Energy Revolution (PFER) challenge programme.

The remit of the ERRC will include working with the Energy Services Catapult to enable and inform demonstrators and demonstrator design projects through their lifetime, and undertaking analysis and evaluation; building and driving best practice and leading knowledge exchange through national and international engagement with policy, academic and industrial communities.

The ERRC will lead, shape and define a strategic programme of applied interdisciplinary research which must aim to achieve significant outputs in the area of whole systems energy research which can inform future energy investment by companies and government. The ERRC will aim to coordinate and integrate, through targeted investment, existing UK world-class knowledge, research teams and facilities.

Joining the consortium

Following the intent to submit stage which closed on 24 July 2018, an ERRC community building workshop took place in Birmingham on 9-10 July 2018.

Others are now encouraged to join the consortium prior to submission of the full proposal, in particular to address any gaps in expertise. There is no limit to the number of partner organisations eligible for funding or the number of project partners - wider engagement is encouraged.

If you feel you or your organisation would be able to make a significant contribution please contact the consortium bid team directly to discuss participation. Full details are available on the EPSRC website.
