Vaccines: Children's Right to Health

This event aims to increase awareness of the importance of vaccination, and of children’s rights as patients amongst a targeted group of parents of children aged 3-5 (Nursery/P1). There will be a short talk by Dr Patrycja Dabrowska-Klosinska, a Marie Curie Fellow at the Health and Human Rights Unit, QUB, who researches the conflict between individual people’s rights and public health risks caused by global pandemics. A pediatrician from a local hospital will also give a talk, after which a Q&A session will follow. The event will also help reduce children’s anxieties towards nurses and vaccines by providing them with "pretend toys" (e.g. doctor kits) and drawing activities; helping to familiarise them with medical equipment and vocabulary. Each child will receive a small toy as a prize for participation.
