Our DTCs were accredited as ESRC training providers following a competitive peer review process and had provided clear evidence of the highest quality in their training provision. The DTCs were originally accredited for a period of five six years and the first cohort of students started in October 2011. We funded approximately 600 new studentships a year through our DTC network.

The Postgraduate Training and Development Guidelines 2009 apply to all ESRC-funded studentships at Doctoral Training Centres (DTCs). The guidelines set out our expectations for DTCs including training content, indicating the core requirements across training in general research skills, research methods and transferable skills. They also set out the criteria which were used to assess DTC applications.

Further details about the terms and conditions of studentship funding can be found in our Postgraduate Funding Guide. You can also contact the DTCs for further information.
