Mr Simon Anderson

Simon Anderson is an independent consultant with nearly three decades’ experience as a practitioner, commissioner, senior manager and strategist in applied policy research across a range of sectors and settings. Having started his career in criminological research at Edinburgh University, he then worked for the Scottish Office before leaving to set up a social research unit in a commercial research agency.

From 2003 until 2014, he worked for NatCen Social Research, establishing and Directing its Scottish arm (ScotCen Social Research) and spending time as Acting Chief Executive of the national organisation. He is a lay member of Court at Stirling University and an expert ethics advisor to the European Research Council. He has an MA in Sociology and Politics and an MSc in Legal Studies (Criminology), both from Edinburgh.
